Building for Small Business through data-driven account-technology and MCP.
Background
Initially started as a product discovery project around finding truth inside small businesses, Quota became an expansive two year build project that covered concept, strategy, ideation, research, full-stack design execution, hiring and product scale-strategy and preparation for venture capital.
Concept
Our discovery told us that Small Business had a big problem. Post-pandemic, Small Business was struggling to not only make ends meet, but they were struggling to access capital. A big part of this was because Small Business is by its nature opaque - and this hides systematic issues that can cause Small Businesses to fail. This also contributes to why Small Businesses are considered high-risk to lenders. With Quota we wanted to give Small Business owners the ability to see inside their own businesses, locate issues, and engage professional help using accurate data.
In short, Quota is Bloomberg Terminal for SMB. But it’s a Bloomberg terminal that can be simultaneously used by a highly qualified accountancy professional and a business owner with a financial knowledge largely limited to ‘does the number go up?’.
Most business owners make bad decisions, not because they don’t seek out good advice - but because they don’t have the right numbers in front of them - or the context of those numbers - to make a good decision.
Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.
